NYAA AWARDS PROGRAM

                                                                         NYAA, INC. AWARDS PROGRAM

1.         The Presidential Awards

A plaque given each year to the highest scorer in each of the divisions at the NYAA, Inc. New York State Atlatl Championships (Individuals, Distance Throw, and Hunter's Animal Round).  The plaques will be presented at the NYAA, Inc. Annual Fall Meeting, or as soon thereafter as is reasonable.  NYAA, Inc. will also maintain a plaque listing each year and the names of the highest scorers in each of the divisions (Individuals, Distance Throw, and Hunter's Animal Round) in each year.

Additionally, each participant in the NYAA, Inc. New York State Atlatl Championships (Individuals, Distance Throw, and
Hunter's Animal Round) will be issued a certificate that includes their class, score, and placement.

The funding for the awards will come from the NYAA, Inc. Annual Budget - Championship Awards..

2.         The Trustees’ Award

A rotating trophy given each year to the highest scoring team at the New York State Team Atlatl Championships.  The name of the team and the primary throwers comprising that team will be engraved on the trophy, and the trophy will be retained by that team for one (1) year.  The trophy will be presented at the NYAA, Inc. Annual Fall Meeting.

The rotating NYAA, Inc. Team Atlatl Championship trophy was donated by renegade atlatl in 2007.

3.         The Lamoka Award

A plaque given each year to an individual or to individuals who have had a major influence on the development and growth of the sport of atlatl.  Award recipients do not have to be a member of NYAA, Inc. to receive the award.  The Lamoka Award will be issued by the President at the annual fall meeting.

The Lamoka Award is a service award rather than an achievement award.  The primary emphasis should, therefore, not be based upon performance in competition, but rather based on the promotion of the sport of atlatl.  Some criteria should include, but not be limited to, the organizing and staging of atlatl events, demonstrations conducted and instruction given, the conducting of workshops, the formation of and service to local atlatl groups, and service to NYAA, Inc.  Such other criteria as the committee may deem necessary can also be considered.

A yearly Lamoka Award selection committee will be appointed by the NYAA, Inc. Board of Directors.  The committee will accept and review nominations from the membership, and select from the nominees a recipient or recipients. (The 2008 Lamoka Award Committee includes Bill Brundage, renegade atlatl; Scott VanArsdale, TAA; Douglas Bassett, GVAA).

The funding for the award will come from the NYAA, Inc. Annual Budget -  Lamoka Award.

4.         The New York Atlatl Association, Inc. Scholarship

A monetary award of one hundred dollars ($100) given in appropriate years to an individual enrolled in a university, college,
community or junior college, or technical school and who has been an active participant in the sport of atlatl in New York State.

A yearly scholarship committee will be appointed by the NYAA, Inc. Board of Directors.  The committee will accept and review
applications from the membership, and select from the applicants a recipient or recipients.  Applications can be obtained from the

NYAA Secretary/Treasurer, or by downloading from the NYAA website or the Atlatls-N-More website.  (The 2008 New York
Atlatl Assocation, Inc. Scholarship Committee includes Melissa Dildine, TAA; Jim Fisher, NFAA; Douglas Bassett, GVAA)
